Rancho Río Montaña consists of some 1300 acres of tropical dry forest situated between Playas de Nosara in the South and Playa Ostional to the North. The Rancho Rio Montana property, which was originally five smaller farms was acquired in the mid-nineties and consolidated into the Ranch you see today.
Rancho Río Montaña abuts the Río Montaña and is criss-crossed by the Quebrada Seca and the Río Cholo, graced with a waterfall which runs almost year round and numerous springs. It boasts rolling pasture, virgin forest and killer 180 degree vistas of the Pacific. It is abundant in both local flora and fauna and is home to several families of monkeys: the Howlers and the far rarer White Faced species. Old homesteads dot the property from the time it was several farms supporting many families. Notable are the Pochote House homestead and the remnants of the tiny village of La Trinidad. Random orange, mango, lemon and avocado give testimony to previous occupants. The only way to really appreciate the beauty of the ranch is to ride the property on horseback.
